Microfinance Minister Kyeyune Kasolo wants leaders to sensitise masses on savings culture

KANUNGU– The Minister for State for Microfinance Hon Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has reiterated the need for leaders to sensitise small enterprise earners to develop a saving culture in order to have funds for investments.

Hon Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo who is also Member of Parliament for Kakuto Constituency in Rakai District, said this today while launching the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation at Kanungu District Headquarters.

Minister Kyeyune Kasolo noted that Uganda’s lies in empowering groups of people who have specialised in certain skills so that together they can develop a saving culture to enable them invest in bigger projects.

The Mister noted that whereas some people have developed an ability to earn they still lack the courage to save and invest which is the core value of wealth and job creation.

Minister Kyeyune Kasolo tasked the leaders to sensitise the masses so that they can identify their potential when they save and invest the little they earn.

He said that a saving culture needs participatory approach where every participant must contribute the little available to pool bigger resources that can create job creation and improving household incomes.

Boaz Tuhumure, who represented the Microfinance Supposed Center Ltd said there are 18 eligible categories of EMYOOGA which can be supported and these vary from one specialization.

The function was also addressed by the National Cordinator of Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation (EMYOOGA) in Presidents Officer Namuwenge Ritah who said that government has decided to pariotise the promotion of EMYOOGA because it’s the easiest way of transforming society.

Namuwenge explained that the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation was a deliberate plan by President Museveni to get the masses out of poverty as provided for in the Constitution and NRM Manifesto.

The Vice Chairperson for Youth Action for Social Political and Economic Development (YASPED) Bisaso Abdul said that the EMYOOGA is a strategy that can benefit all category of people including organised youth, women, boda boda, market vendors to name but a few.

The function was attended by Kanungu District Deputy RDC Emmy Ngabirano, LC 5 Vice Chairman Gad Byomuhangi, and Assistant CAO Gertrude Mutahakana, and selected leaders of EMYOOGA groups.

While giving a vote of thanks to Minister Kyeyune Kasolo, Kanungu Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Elizabeth Karungi who asked the people of Kanungu to embrace the ideas and put forward by the government like the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation (EMYOOGA), because they are the direct beneficiary for now and future generations.
