JINJA- Court in Jinja has dismissed a case in which Jinja Resident District Commissioner, Mr Eric Joseph Sakwa was challenging his interdiction after being charged with an alleged criminal offences.
The application was filed against the Attorney General and Haji Kakande Yunus as respondents in May this year.
High Court Judge Jeanne Rwakakooko ruled that Mr Sakwa, though appointed by the President in accordance with the Constitution, is a Public Officer and bound by the Public Service Standing Orders.
The applicant through his lawyers Caleb Alaka, Ochieng Evans and Nyote David Innocent was challenging the second respondents’ action to interdict the applicant from the office of the RDC Jinja District.
Court records indicate that Mr Sakwa was on May 8th 2020 served with a letter of interdiction dated May 4th, and signed by Mr Kakande.
Mr. Sakwa argued that he was never given any hearing before the interdiction letter was written which according to him violates the rules of natural justice.
