RUKUNGIRI– The Rukungiri district assistant Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Richard Kagaba Ndorwa has commended “Tulambule Rukungiri” for not only promoting tourism in the district but also for health among participants.
Kagaba made remarks on Tuesday while setting off participants during the third edition of “Tulambule Rukungiri” an event that attracted more than 70 participants involving riding motor bicycles in a 92KM race.
The race started from Rukungiri Main stadium to Kimbugwe Lake in Nyarushanje sub-county and then back to the starting point.
Beingana Onyete the district tourism officer thanked the organizers of the event and participants noting that this is a sign of patriotism that everyone in the district must embrace to promote tourism that will in turn boost the income status of the area.
According to Julius Niwamanya the ED Rukungiri sports club who is also the event organizer, the third edition targeted donating towards the construction of Kimbugwe primary school in promoting quality education.
Niwamanya added that the project has been a success with the help of different partners such as St. Luke Medical Chamber, Buyanja Sacco, Rukungiri district local government, Praise Hot pot, Rwakabengo sports academy among others.
Elias Byamungu the Rukungiri district Chief administrative officer who later officiated at the function demonstrated to residents on how to fight non- communicable diseases with 20 press up which left them wondering how he managed considering his age.
The third edition also involved a health camp courtesy of St. Luke Medical Chamber in a way of fighting non communicable diseases.
Each participant contributed UGX 10,000 towards the project
