Kabale District Health Officer officially launches COVID-19 vaccination

KABALE– The Kabale district health officer Alfred Besigensi has called upon the people positively welcome the AstraZeneca COVID-19 jab in the efforts to contain the spread of the novel COronavirus.

He made this remark today while officially launching the AstraZeneca vaccination at Kabale regional referral hospital.

On Friday 12th March 2021 Kabale district received a total of 4,120 doses of AstraZeneca Covid 19 vaccine which were received well and packed in medical stores at the district.

Besigensi noted that every person will receive two Jabs at different intervals stressing that the medicine has no effect on the human body.

Besigensi advised the people not to be diverted by social media rumors but value their lives and to take the vaccination if they want their bodies to be stimulated in fighting COVID 19.

He further called upon people to continue observing standard operating procedures even though the medicine is around since the disease is still here.

The medicine has been distributed to five centers that were cited and designated to hold the vaccination exercise.

The five centers include; Kabale regional Referral Hospital, Rugarama Hospital, Rushoroza Hospital, Rubaya health center IV and Maziba health center IV.

Among the groups to be vaccinated first are the Elderly people, Teachers, Security personnel and Doctors where Besigensi revealed that over 800 have been registered to be vaccinated in this phase.
