TANZANIA- Catholic believers in Tanzania are mourning the passing on of Bishop Alfred Maluma of the Catholic Diocese of Njombe.
Bishop Maluma died on Tuesday at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) where he was admitted for medication, Fr Justin Sapula announced.
And no further information has been availed with many questions left unanswered.
Fr Sapula said the Bishop died at 6.40 p.m local time and only added that arrangements are being organized for his final send-off.
President Samia Suluhu also joined the mourners in a message “I am saddened by the news of the death of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Njombe Rev. Father Bishop Alfred Maluma”.
She added that “I offer my condolences to all Catholics, Wananjombe and all those affected by this tragedy.”
He becomes the third person to of a high rank in the Catholic Church to pass on in East Africa in a space of less than a week.
He joins the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, and Emeritus Archbishop Lukudu of South Sudan.
