KAMPALA– Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya has again been remanded to jail till 15th April 2021.

This is after defence lawyers said they were not ready to proceed with hearing because they didn’t get the intended evidence.

Bail application hearing has also been adjourned to then.

He appeared before the Road Court Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu via video link for hearing of his bail application.

Court has today remanded him again to jail till 15th April 2021 after defence lawyers said they were not ready to proceed with the hearing because they didn’t get the intended evidence. Bail application hearing was also adjourned to 15th.

Hearing of the bail application flopped as two of his lawyers failed to agree on how to proceed, which prompted Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu to remand him further.

Segirinya was arrested on Monday, March 22, 2021, from Mini Price, downtown Kampala during a protest organised to contest the outcome of the January 14, presidential election, and to demand the release of National Unity Platform supporters who are detained in various facilities across the country.

He was on the following day arraigned before Buganda road court grade one Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu and charged with inciting violence.
