Two held in Rukungiri over murder in bar brawl

RUKUNGIRI– The Police in Rukungiri District have in detention two people, one on the run in connection to the death of a 37 years old man.

The deceased is Godfrey Natwijuka a resident of Karokarungyi village, in Kakindo parish, Bugangari Sub County in Rukungiri district.

According to Ngabirano Pastori a relative to the deceased, Natwijuka was on Tuesday seen in omubuhita trading centre drinking alcohol in one of the area bars.

It is alleged that he later got misunderstandings with three other people he was drinking with who forcefully pulled him out in unpleasant manner.

Ngabirano adds that his relative woke up in a critical condition on Wednesday which forced the family members to arrange for his medical attention but he died before they reached.

His death created different arguments amongst family members and residents which forced them to invite police for intervention.

Mr. Muhoozi Gad the Bugangari Sub County district councilor now advises the youths to concentrate on farming and other income generating businesses to avoid falling victims of such acts.

The Rukungiri central police team led by O.C CID ASP. Kamugisha Onesmus visited the scene, confirmed the death and handed over over the body to the relative for burial as investigations commence.

ASP. Kamugisha condemned such acts in communities and urged the community to desist from alcoholism which he said could be leading to many deaths.
