KAMPALA– The Head of the Delegation of the European Union Attilio Pacific has termed as fake and unauthentic a document making rounds on social media platforms purporting that the EU was distancing themselves from planned Kyagulanyi’s swearing.
A letter making rounds purpoted to be addressed to the National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu pointed out that they were distancing the Union from planned swearing in ceremony.
The same letter claimed that the European Union Head of Delegation said that as partners of Uganda’s democratic process, the reject actions that undermine the country’s Constitution and the rule of law.
The European Union however in a twist of events refuted the allegetion stressing that the letter is not from their office but instead a concocted piece.
“Please disregard a fake letter circulating online allegedly written to @NUP_Ug President @HEBobiwine from the European Union Ambassador to Uganda @APacificiEU. This is the latest of many attempts at disinformation in Uganda. Say no to #disinformation” their fresh Statement reads.
The statement comes at a time when the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces have categorically warned Ugandans against any activities aimed at distablising peace in Uganda and said that they would deal harshly with those found planning illegal activities.
