Man stabbed to death in Rukungiri bar brawl over bar-maid


RUKUNGIRI– The Police in Rukungiri are hunting for unknown assailants who stabed a 25 year old man to death in a bar brawl.

The deceased is Amanya Francis a resident of Nyamiyaga B in Kazindiro parish, Bugangari Sub County,  Rukungiri district.

According to the relative and an uncle to the deceased Mr. Tusingwire Peter, his son was stabbed on Monday morning at around 3am in a nearby trading centre where they were drinking alcohol from.

Tusingwire adds that Amanya was found bleeding excessively which forced them to rush him to Kalori Lwanga Nyakibale hospital for medication where he was pronounced dead hours later.

Anonymous Sources revealed to our reporter that the deceased together with friends were fighting for a girl in one of the bar in the trading centre.

The area local council One chairperson Mr. Ahimbisibwe Deus revealed that it’s unfortunate that bars have started Operating throught the night against government’s Curfew guidelines and closure on bars thus Calling on security organs to rush for their rescue.

The Police led by ASP. Victor Arimpa from the CID at Rukungiri Police station visited the crime scene, did postmortem and handed over the body to the relatives for burial arrangements.

Arumpa encouraged the public to always work hand in hand with Police in investigations if they are to iron out wrong elements in their communities.

He blamed such acts on local council leaders who hide information about such incidents in the their areas the habit he says must stop.

Arumpa asked the public also to desist from acts of Mob justice but rather seek for lawful means of settling their grievances from relevant Authorities.
