Man hangs himself after killing his aunt in Rukiga

RUKIGA– The Police in Rukiga District have commenced with investigations to establish the cause of murder and suicide case.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson says that Furaha Karuhanga went on rampage, cut Savius Bakahebwa 49, a resident of Nyamihanga village, Nyakasiru parish in Bukinda sub county, Rukiga district. 

Maate adds that Karuhanga cut the deceased with a panga on the fore head, in the face and both arms on Friday night at around 01:00 hrs from her house.

It is said Karuhanga thereafter left the aunt unconscious and ran away to the neighborhood farm of Pedson where he was working, climbed a big and tall eucalyptus tree and hanged himself in the extreme branch.

The two are said to have had a land wrangle for long, which could be the reason for which he killed her according to Maate.

The Police PRO adds that the Police was notified, visited both scenes and getting the body from the tree were underway by press time so that postmortem can be done to establish the causes of deaths.

The case of murder by cutting has been registered at Rukiga Police station on Reference number CRB 235/2021.
