KAMPALA– Kyambogo University is in deep sorry after the death of it’s two members.
The duo is a student Doreen Mirembe Juliet who has been under care at Victoria Hospital.
Mirembe was in her second academic year pursing a Bachelor’s of Teacher Education (BTE).
Also, a staff member at the University, Ms Sharon Atwine was pronounced dead after post mortem results showed she succumbed to the COVID-19 virus.
The duo’s death comes at a time when the University witnessed a shocking spike in COVID-19 infections amongst the students in the last two-three weeks.
The University hasn’t come out to make an official statement about the student’s demise, however some of the students confirm to our reporter that the deceased was one of their own.
The deceased staff member was a Nursery Teacher at the department of Psychology. Earlier on, the University Management, followed advice from a team of health experts led by Dr. Monica Musenero (Senior Presidential Adviser on Epidemics and Pandemic) to close the institution for atleast 10 days.
