KAMPALA– Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu has been appointed the acting Uganda People’s Defense Forces Deputy spokesperson. He replaces Col Deo Akiiki who is going for the course.
“It’s true. Lt Col Kakurungu will be seating in for me. As I do a one year long command and staff course” said Col Deo Akiiki.
Insiders confirmed the Development adding that Lt col Kakurungu will act as Deo is going for senior command college at Kimaka.
Akiiki had assumed this office in 2017. Information indicates that Lt col Kakurungu who is currently on course will take up his new roles next month.
“I thank the UPDF Leadership for nominating me to go and further my studies and military career at the Senior Command and Staff College. Karibu Ndugu Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu to take charge of the office of the Deputy spokesperson of the ministry and UPDF. Alluta Continua” Col Akiiki tweeted.
The announcement was made on Sunday morning.
Kakurungu, who has recently served as spokesperson for the fourth UPDF division in Gulu and the second division in Mbarara will now replace Col Deo Akiiki who has been sent for further training.
Deo Akiiki, who was at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel was in March among the UPDF officers promoted by President Museveni.
By being sent for another course at the Senior Command and Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja district, col Deo Akiiki, a graduate of strategic security studies at the National Defence University in Washington DC,USA is being prepared for higher offices and commanding positions in the Ugandan army that he has served for many years.
