NWSC Security Guard killed in cold blood, gun stolen

KISORO– The Police in Kisoro are hunting for assailants who attacked a SWATT Security Guard who was guarding the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) facility in Kisoro, killed him and fled with his gun.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told our reporter that the late Erick Habomugisha a resident of Kanyabukungu village in Gisorora Parish in Nyakabande Sub County in Kisoro District was killed on Saturday night by unknown assailants and his body dragged to the water stream where it was dumped.

Maate said that the incident took place at Chuho village in Gasiza parish also in Nyakabande Sub County where the deceased was guarding a National Water and Sewerage Corporation pump station.

The death of Habomugisha was reported to the Police by his supervisor Monday Patrick who said that th deceased had been deployed for night duty with a gun registration number SAR UG PSO 9069985-08751 which was taken by the assailants.

Maate said that Police preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was  cut with a panga because he had a deep cuts on his neck and the panga was discovered at the scene of crime.

The body of Habomugisha was picked by the Police and taken to Kisoro Hospital for a Postmortem examination and no arrests have been made.

The case was registered at Kisoro District Central Police Station under reference number CRB 282/2021 to help in investigations.

Maate however said that Police has started hunting for the assailants who fled with the gun.
