Uganda registers 1,259 new COVID-19 cases ahead of tonight’s Presidential address

KAMPALA– Uganda’s Health Ministry has confirmed 1,259 new COVID-19 cases from tests done on 4 June 2021.

The cases were part of 7,289 samples tested and this hikes the cumulative confirmed cases to 52,935. 

Nine new COVID-19 deaths were also registered bringing the total infection deaths to 383.

The new cases account to 634 Active cases on admission at different health facilities across the cross.

The Ministerial statement indicates that 1,256 cases are contacts and Alerts with 825 cases from Kampala, Wakiso 171, Busia 39, Luwero 33,  Mukono 28, Gulu 27,  Hoima 17,  Bududa 14, Mbale 14, Mbarara 15 and Ngora 9.

Others are Jinja 13, Omoro 7, Tororo 8, Kiruhura 7, Nebbi 7, Pallisa 4, Bugiri 2, Yumbe 2, Sironko 2, Lira 1, Lamwo 1, Kiryandongo 1, Dokolo 1, Moyo 2, Kyotera 3, Amuru 3 cases.

The other cases are 3 Truck Drivers from Mutukula border Point of Entry.

The Ministry also wants Ugandans to remain vigilant in observing COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures if they are to get rid of the scourge.
