Uganda receives 175,200 more doses of COVID-19 vaccines


KAMPALA– Uganda has received another batch of 175,200 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines, a donation from the French Government through the COVAX facility.

The vaccines consignment was later transported to the National Medical Stores cold rooms in Entebbe where they will be dispatched to health facilities and vaccination centres across the country.

The first batch of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines landed at Entebbe International Airport on 5th March 2021 at around 2:55 pm aboard an Emirates 777 Boeing flight and vaccination commenced on 10th March.

Since Uganda received it’s first batches of about 970,000 jabs, a total of 806,129 people especially Frontline workers have been vaccinated against the deadly Coronavirus.

Todate Uganda has registered 66,631 cumulative cases from 1,217,352 tested so far which tallies to 15.3%.

Furthermore, 950 positive COVID-19 patients are currently admitted in hospitals, 48,649 have already recovered from the deadly disease as 508 have already been confirmed dead.
