Police identifies truck driver who suddenly died in Rukiga

RUKIGA– The Police in Rukiga District have finally identified the truck driver who collapsed and died along Mbarara-Kabale highway as Mayari Matayo Mbusa, a  Congolese national.

As earlier reported by www.theinformerug.com, Matayo collapsed and died instantly after parking the vehicle at a roadside on Saturday 2nd July 2021 at around 7pm at Kakatunda trading centre Bukinda.

According to Elly maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Matayo was transporting fuel in a trailer Reg. No. 1869AA/19-1870AA/19 from Kenya through Busia to Goma and was together with the turnman Emmanuel Magaviro Kambale 27.

It’s alleged that the deceased through the journey, felt sickly and would make the turnman also drive to get relief and was on hypertension medication.

Police was notified and scene was visited by Asp Tusiime Frank, the Acting Rukiga District police commander and body was taken to Kabale Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Maate added that the Trailor is being guarded at Bukinda since it’s loaded with fuel.

A case of sudden death is registered at Bukiinda police post under reference number SD 11/02/07/2021.
