Local leaders want Police officer transfered over unprofessionalism

BUSIA– The local leaders in Masinya sub county, Busia district have petitioned the District security authorities to transfer some of the police officers in their area over unprofessional conduct.

Local leaders want the transfer of a police officer identified as Razak Chepkwurui from Busia district to somewhere else due to unprofessional conduct.

According to the local leaders, the conduct of Razak who is attached to Masinya Police post does not depict those of Police officers but instead of thieves.

According to Geoffrey Nasichongi, the Masinya subcounty chairperson Razak is a very corrupt officer who resorted to not only extort money from cross border business community but also searching people’s homes without a genuine reason which he says is unlawful.

Nasichongi alleges that while Razak was working at Masafu Police station, he sold off his own motorcycle and reported a theft case against his fellow police officers stressing that the case is still in Busia Court.

Nasichongi attributes the surging cases of corruption, extortion of money from people and unlawful conduct among officers at Masinya Police station to their over stay citing an example of the OC and OC CID whom he accuse of being involved in smuggling Opium for 4 and 6 years respectively they have been at that station.

The local leaders led by Nasichongi petitioned the District security authorities led by the DPC to force the transfer of such officers from their Sub County.

While speaking to our reporter, Razak the accused warned the chairperson against tarnishing his name stressing that all allegations levied against him are false.

News obtained by this reporter shows that Razak is slated to be transfered to Buyanga Sub-county in Busia district.
