Musumba withdraws election Petition, Kadaga’s legal team demand Ugx 1bn compensation


KAMULI– News reaching our desk indicate that the Forum for Democratic Change FDC’s Hon Proscovia Salaamu Musumba has withdrawn her election Petition he had filed against Rt.Hon. Rabecca Alitwara Kadaga for the Kamuli District Woman Mp seat.

In a petition that was filed in March this year, Salaamu through her lawyers Galiwago & co. advocates and Isabirye & Co. advocates petitioned Jinja High Court expressing their dissatisfaction and distress with the manner in which Electoral Commission conducted the elections for the position of Kamuli District Woman MP which saw Kadaga retaining her parliamentary seat.

Hon. Musumba alleged that her genuine poll results were reduced at several polling stations while inflating the votes for Ms Kadaga thereby denying her deserved victory.

The hearing of the case that kicked off today saw the petitioner  (Salaam Musumba) through her lawyer Isabirye John withdraw her case.

Hon Proscovia Salaamu Musumba the petitioner revealed to this publication that she has reached a decision to withdraw his petition for a better Busoga.

However, by the time of filing this report, Rt. Hon. Rabecca Kadaga’s legal team led by Senior counsel John Mary Mugisha, Lawyer Caleb Alaka, Evans Ochieng and Mike Okua was demanding Musumba to pay legal costs worth Ugx 1Bn accusing her of wasting their time.
