Land shortage delays construction of HC III in Rwerere Town council

RUKUNGIRI– The delay in the construction of a government health III in Rwerere Town council has been attibuted to shortage of Land.

This was revealed by Dr. Akasiima Mucungunzi, the Rukungiri District Health Officer DHO responding to the health concerns raised by the town council district councilors.

Dr Akasiima stressed that all Sub-counties in the district have Health centre III’s except Rwerere Town council however noting that if all the pending issues are dealt with, the facility will be put up.

It should remembered that president of Uganda through the Ministry of health pledged to construct a Health centre III in every Sub-county as one way of bringing helath services nearer to the people however this is not the case in Rwerere Town council.

In fulfillment of the presidential pledge, Kebisoni Sub-county got Karuhembe HC II and Buyanja Sub-county got Kasheeshe HC II upgraded to Health centre III’s after their former facilities were left to their newly born Town councils leaving Rwerere out of the game.

Rwerere Town council which was curved out of Nyakagyeme subcounty was left without a Health centre III facility as the one they were using was left in the hands of original Sub-county.
