Man caught with Charms survives lynching by angry mob


TORORO– The Police in Tororo District are investigating  case of attempted murder by mob of a 63 year old man.

The survivor is Opili Sam Okware alias Augustine a resident of of Omiriai Zone, Angololo parish, Carlight Sub-county.

The move to have him off was weaved after he was nabbed red-handed planting charms in neighbor’s Adilu Daniel’s compound.

Adilu got a tip off from Opili’s friend over a planned charms last tuesday and he kept alert until 11:30pm when unsuall guests arrived at his home.

As soon as they started their activities, he made an alarm from his hide out attracting members of the community who pounced on him to nearly death.

 he made an alarm only for neighbors to come and Cain the uncle who had a small hoe ,a sword and a bag herbs. 

The angry mob was calmed by the area village chairperson John Okwang who called Mella police post personnel to rush to the scene. The Police were at first overpowered by the mob until they called for re-enforcement from Tororo Central Police Station.

The villagers now want the Police to hand over Opili back to the clan Ikarwok Ikarabai to handle his matter.

Moses Mugwe the Bukedi Police Spokesperson now warns the public against involvement in mob acts but rather hand suspects to Police for action.

The case of criminal trespass has since been registered at Tororo Central Police Station under reference number SD 05/13/9/2021.
