Panic in Rukungiri as panga wielding assailants list areas they want to attack


RUKUNGIRI– Residents in Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri District are living in extreme panic as machete wielding assailants drop fresh threatening leaflets in their area.

Fresh leaflets have been found in Kisharara cell, Rubanga parish, Buyanja sub county in Rukungiri District written in Luganda with messages threatening residents that they should prepare for their time.

According to the Buyanja Sub County Chairperson Emmy Agaba Emmy Rubondo, the assailants warned that they would start their attacks on October 3rd 2021.

“The leaflets which carried messages in Luganda, were first seen by juveniles who took them to their guardian” said Rubondo.

The message on the leaflet also rallies residents to always go home earlier so that the assailants can find them in their homes.

They also promised to chop off heads of unnamed village Chairperson in Buyanja as well as other people in Buyanja and Kebisoni Sub Counties.

Stephen Bewayo Nsubuga the Rukungiri District Resident Commissioner confided to this reporter that his office has already gotten a report of the matter adding that security teams are already assessing the situation.

Bewayo who heads the District security noted that this should a wake up reminder to all the residents to work hand in hand in fighting this criminality.

The RDC who also confirmed that the assailants in previous leaflets said they want 10 heads from the district as threats of murders that started from Masaka widen rallies the residents to observe vigilancy and report any suspicious elements within their areas so that this threat can be easily dealt with.
