Uganda’s longest serving President Tibuhaburwa turns 77


NATIONAL– The president of the Republic of Uganda His Excellency Tibuhaburwa Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today marked his 77th Birthday.

General Museveni’s birthday comes just  4 months after swearing as the president of Uganda for the 6th consecutive terms.

General Museveni was born on 15 September 1944 to the Late Mzee Amos Kaguta a cattle keeper and Esteri Kokundeka Nganzi  a housewife who also passed away in 2001.

He is a Muhima of the kingdom of Mpororo (now part of Ankole).

Museveni gets his middle name from his father, Mzee Amos Kaguta. Kaguta is also the father of Museveni’s brother Caleb Akandwanaho, popularly known in Uganda as Salim Saleh and sister Violet Kajubiri.

His family later migrated to Ntungamo, Uganda Protectorate where he even got his wife Janet  Kataha Museveni.

President Museveni has led Uganda for now 35 years after getting in power on 26th January 1986.

However, his critics have always accused him of vote rigging, dictatorship and overstaying in power.
