Kisoro Accident claims one, Rev Fr cheats death

KISORO– One person has died, 4 others sustained serious injuries when a vehicle they were traveling in lost control and overturned within Kanaba hills along Kisoro – Kabale road on Thursday morning.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told our reporter that the vehicle registration number UAQ 365D was being driven by Rev Fr Vincent Turinawe who is attached to Kangole Parish in Moroto District who is among the survivors.

Maate identified the rest of the survivors as 45 year old Sr Anexentia Arinaitwe of Rushoroza Parish in Kabale, 40 year old Asiimwe Donata a businesswoman in Kiruhura District and Tibizuka Mantlida a resident of Buhara sub County in Kabale District.

Maate also identified the deceased as 84 year old Nyamihanda Jerimina a resident of Kabanyonyi village in Buhara sub County.

Maate said that the preliminary investigation indicate that the driver lost control and overturned several times before hitting a roadside rocky cliff.

The Police traffic department headed by the OC Kisoro Otole Yofasi visited the scene of the accident, towed the wreckage of the car to Kisoro Central Police Station where a case of fatal accident was registered under reference number TAR 53/2021 to help in further investigation.
