UPDF to withdraw security from MPs who misuse it

NEWS- Uganda People’s Defense Forces have come broken silence on Thursday morning accident that involved their vehicle and the train.

Flavia Byekwaso, the UPDF spokesperson revealed that the derailment on Thursday 16th September 2021 involved a UPDF Toyota Landcruiser registration number H4DF 2180 and a train locomotive registration number 73U20 in the area of Kireka, Kira Municipality in Wakiso District. 

According to UPDF, the occupants who included Pte Oromaneca David and Pte Ochatre Jackson sustained serious injuries but with the help of locals and the Uganda Police the injured were rushed to Nakasero hospital and that no death was registered.

Byekwaso appreciated the efforts of the locals, area leaders and the police who helped in evacuation of the accident victims.

“On behalf of the UPDF leadership, I wish to sincerely thank the residents of Kireka together with the Local leaders and Uganda Police who assisted in the evacuation of the victims in a timely manner”, Byekwaso said. 

Byekwaso extended apologies to the members of the public who could have been mishandled in the process while trying to clear the scene for proper management.

She (Byekwaso) revealed that investigations to establish the cause of the accident are ongoing.
