Mbarara investor Bright Muhumuza eyes EALA MP seat, calls for Unification


NEWS– Mbarara City based investor and political analyst in western Uganda Bright Muhumuza, who is also a National Unity Platform-NUP party and ideology fanatic is eying the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament (MP) seat 2022-2027.

Muhumuza says there is a missing link in East Africa which will be addressed when there’s regional political federation or unification to have one President for the whole East Africa and others can be governors.

“For us to concentrate on common market, we should first of all handle politics and agree with each other. Then we’ll have common market and common currency for the development of East Africa and Africa as a whole. Let us look at political unification, the will and soul searching of Africa,” he added.

Muhumuza holds a Masters degree in governance and planning from Mbarara University of Science and Technology-MUST, Bachelor of arts in development studies from MUST, he coordinated Go Forward campaigns in Ankole sub region and contested for the MP Mbarara Municipality in 2016. 

He joined people power (NUP) in 2018, recruited many people and he was the NUP flag bearer for MP Mbarara city south division in 2021/26 race where he lost.

Different leaders including President Museveni have always called for East African integration as pivotal in developing the region and Africa as a continent. 

In the United Nations (UN) Statistics Division scheme of geographic regions, 19 territories make up Eastern Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi,and South Sudan as members of the East African Community.
