RUBANDA– Following a record number of COVID-19 cases recorded in a day, tension has continued to mount among residents and Authorities in the district.
According to Dr Abdon Birungi, the Rubanda District Health Officer, the district on Friday 17th of September 2021 recorded 19 COVID- 19 cases.
Currently Rubanda district has 130 positive cases of COVID-19 and 16 deaths now.
Speaking through social media platforms Dr.Birungi said that as the district they have started weekend with bad news of registering 19 new Covid-19 cases with one of the 23 patients at Kabale regional referral hospital from Nyamiyaga Rwembugu cell in Bubaare town council losing the battle to COVID-19 leaving her daughter on CTU.
Dr. Birungi says that Covid-19 hotspots in the districts include Kacerere Town council, Habuhutu Town council, Nfasha trading canter, and Hamurwa town council.
Kabale, Rubanda and Rukiga districts are among the top covid-19 hotspots in Uganda today.
On Friday this week, in abid to contain the continuous rapid spread of the Covid-19, the Rubanda District Covid-19 taskforce halted burial ceremonies that happen beyond 10:00am.
This was reached during the Covid-19 taskforce that was held at Rukiiko Hall in Kabale district where Dr Birungi announced that all the burials in the district to always start at 9am and end at 10 am until further notice.
This was reached after it was reported that burials and other related gatherings like parties had resumed again in the district yet the pandemic is steadily spreading in the populace.
