Bushenyi receives 2,900 COVID-19 vaccine doses

BUSHENYI– The Bushenyi District Health Department has received another consignment of 2,910 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the Health Ministry.

The vaccines delivered by the National Medical Stores-NMS include 2,380 doses of Moderna vaccines and 530 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

Eliab Tayebwa the assistant DHO says vaccination is expected to resume immediately after the health workers are done with the training and distribution of the vaccines to respective health facilities designated for vaccination.

Tayebwa noted that at least 2800 teachers have been vaccinated ever since the exercise was rolled out in the district.

Jane Asiimwe Muhindo, the Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner told our reporter that Kiyagara parish in Nyabubare sub county has of late turned a hotspot with 5 new cases registered last week.

RDC Asiimwe attributes this upsurge to increased community relaxation and continued violation of SOPs.
