Kanungu District boss commends Bwindi Community Hospital


NEWS– Kanungu District Chairman Eng Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo has hailed the work being done by Bwindi Community Hospital a private non profit making organisation in promoting good health practices in Kanungu District.

Bwindi Community Hospital started in 2003 mainly to improve the health of Batwa Pygmies who were evicted from Bwindi Impenetrable Hospital, and neighbouring communities.

Eng Arinaitwe Kajojo made the remarks over the weekend while on a tour of Bwindi Community Hospital which is located in Buhoma Town Council in Kanungu District.

He thanked the team at Bwindi Community Hospital headed by the Hospital  Executive Director Dr Birungi Mutahunga  and the Hospital Administrator Rev Elithabeth Kamara  for the better services and commitment.

Chairman Ainaitwe Kajojo noted that the team at Bwindi Community Hospital enabled Kanungu district manage Covid-19 pandemic after it waa ranked in the country as the best in Covid management facility  dispite being a border district.

Bwindi Community Hospital is composed of Uganda Nursing schiool Bwindi and Uganda College of Health Sciences which currently have 412 students.

The Hospital also handle sexual and reproductive case, major surgery operations, mental health, diagnosis of many other chronic illness
