Education Ministry gives update on fate of S.1 and 5 learners ahead of reopening

KAMPALA– The Ministry of Education and Sports has announced dates and place for the selection of senior one and senior five students in the country.

According to the statement released on Wednesday by Ketty Lamaro the permanent secretary, the Ministry has selected Kololo independence grounds as the place where selection of senior one and five students will be held.

Lamaro said that the selection will commence on 25th to 29th October this year.

In a statement, Lamaro asked all heads of schools to limit and control numbers stressing that each school will be represented by one participant asking all head teachers to come with their official identity cards.

Lamaro said that since the number of participants is estimated to be 2000 and in a view of COVID-19, the participants will be attending in groups of 500 per day.

Lamaro also reminded all heads of primary teachers’ colleges, BTVET institutions and the general public that there will be no admissions for primary teachers’ colleges for grade III certificate courses.

She further said that selection exercises for learners joining technical schools, community polytechnical institutions and technical institutes will be conducted at a date to be communicated later.
