Development partners call for observance of girl child right in Tororo

NEWS– Tororo district has celebrated a belated international day of the girl child under the theme “DIGITAL GENERATION, OUR GENERATION” with support from Plan international and world vision among other partners together with the swearing of children’s parliament at the district council chambers.

Onyango Jerome the labor officer while representing the district community development officer DCDO said that as a department, they will work towards sustainability of the children parliament within the district and beyond.

Denis Odwe the plan international  manager promised collective efforts towards fighting for children rights but appealed to the government to facilitate the process of connecting electricity in rural areas for successful implementation of their plans.

Rebecca Akumu the deputy district chairperson said it’s up to the all the parents, political leaders and technocrats to take keen interest in embracing technology to meet the interest of girls and women in the era of this new tech world.

Yahaya Were the Tororo District deputy Resident Commissioner commended all the development partners for working together in the fight against abuse towards the girl child to make their lives successful.

He urged parents to take interest into the issues affecting girl child so that they are safe whether with teachers or parents at Schools and homes respectively.

Walter Uryek Wun the senior Tororo hospital administrator while representing the Chief Administrative Officer promised commitment to work with childrens parliament in ensuring that their tenure of office is felt to by fellow children.
