KAMPALA– The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire has clarified that the bomb scare along Entebbe road has turned out not to be a bomb.

However, Owoyesigyire applauded the members of the general public for being security conscious and reporting to Police any suspicious information.

According to a statement issued by the Police today evening and signed by Luke Owoyesigyire, the Police was today afternoon informed about an abandoned bag along Entebbe Road and they responded swiftly but found that the abandoned bag did not contain a bomb.

“We would like to inform the general public that today, at about 15 30 hrs, the Police at Namasuba recieved information about an abandoned suit case suspected to be containing an explosive at Bata Bata, Namasuba, opposite Front Page Hotel and the officers responded and cordoned off the scene” Owoyesigyire said.

Owoyesigyire said that a team of bomb squad experts using a sniffer dog were not able to detect any bomb materials inside the bag, but went on to safely blow up the bag in order to open and know the contents.

He said that when the bag was opened men clothes were recovered and there were no explosives found inside.
