NEWS– The Police have disclosed and confirmed that the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Commander Bosco Otim is one of the people who sustained serious injuries after a suspected bomb exploded on Swift Bus heading to Bushenyi on Monday afternoon.
The Police Spokesman Fred Enanga told our reporter that Otim was travelling from Kampala heading to his work station in Bushenyi when he was injured in the blast.
Enanga said that contrary to earlier reports, the Police also confirmed that two people had died and several others injured in the bus explosion in Mpigi District while 37 including the driver escaped unhurt.
Enanga said that the team of bomb experts have since cordoned off the the scene at Lungala, along the Kampala – Masaka highway.
The Swift Safaris Bus registration number UAU 989T was traveling from Kampala to Bushenyi and the explosion comes three days after the bomb attack in Komamboga in Kampala.
Enanga said that thorough assessment and investigation will be carried out by the bomb experts periodically and give updates on the explosion.
The bus explosion happened just hours after the Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility for a deadly weekend bombing at a pork joint in Komamboga.
