Bitter verbal exchange erupts in Rukiga over rehabilitation of Noozi bridge

RUKIGA– There is  bitter row  amongst leaders of Rukiga District over the rehabilitation of Noozi Bridge located along Mparo -Noozi road in Rwamucucu Sub County and Rukiga town council.

The Dilapidated Noozi Bridge has been in shambles for many years until recently when a section of people and leaders in Rukiga district decided to work upon it.

Last week on Sunday, Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish the Rukiga County Member Parliament emerged with engineers to renovate it with Culverts an act that has left the Rukiga District boss saying that the MP should have waited for the council to sit an decide what to do.

Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere the Rukiga District boss says that that the District welcomes this move by some concerned residents including Prof Alex Ariho and the Rukiga Member of Parliament Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish of rehabilitating the bridge however stressing that it is procedurally incorrect.

The District boss insists that they need to wait so that the district council sits and blesses it as all plans on district projects are approved and implemented by the district council.

He says that last Wednesday the people of Noozi led by Prof Ariho had wanted to work on the said bridge and that he guided them to wait for the council stressing that he was on Sunday shocked when MP Ndyomugyenyi insisted that he was going to work on it with out involving the district leadership as well as the district engineer.

“We appreciate the effort of the Honorable Member of parliament MP but it is procedurally incorrect since they have to first get the blessing of district council. All plans on district projects are approved and implemented by the district council but the Hon Mp said that he will work on it if district allows him and am seeing him hurrying without even involving our Engineer.”.Said Mbabazi.

Locals including Denis Nkwasibwe of Rwamucucu sub county faults Kakwerere questioning why he has been sleeping until Ndyomugyenyi’s intervention adding that whenever there is an emergency, one shouldn’t wait for districts council that sits once a in quarter.

Nkwasibwe says that since the district boss and Oscar Akampurira the speaker don’t know their duties, they are ready also to work on a challenge and later report to council.

“When it’s an emergency, leaders block the move passing a vote of no confidence on themselves and as people of Rukiga we can’t keep quite” He asserted.

Ndyomugyeyi Bish the Rukiga County MP says that he is set to work on the bridge revealing that he has already ordered engineers to deliver the culverts soon as an emergency measure so that the people can use their bridge without any fear of losing lives.
