Major Gen. Don Nabasa takes over Military Police

NEWS– Major General Don Nabasa has officially assumed the Command of Uganda Military Police at Makindye taking over from Brigadier Keith Katungi who is expected to report for duty in Somalia early next month as Uganda’s Contingent Commander under AMISOM.

The colorful function was on Wednesday held at at the Military Police headquarters in Makindye in Kampala and was presided over by the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Peter Elwelu.

Lt Gen Elweru said in his remarks that Brig Katungi was taking up an important task for the entire country and he have no doubts that he will perform very well in your new assignment in Somalia.

Gen Elweru reminded the incoming commandantof Military Police Maj Gen Don Nabasa, that his new position means recognition and trust that the Commander in Chief has place in him.

Brig Katungi expressed gratitude to the President and the UPDF leadership for the trust, confidence and co-operation they accorded him during his tour of duty.

In his acceptance remarks, Maj Gen Don Nabasa equally applauded the Commander-in-Chief and UPDF leadership for the opportunity and confidence entrusted in him to command the Military Police Brigade.

The handover ceremony was witnessed among others by the Deputy Commander Land Forces, Maj Gen Sam Okiding, the First Division Commander, Maj Gen Sam Kawagga, Deputy Chief of Military Intelligence, Brig Gen Charles Asiimwe, Deputy Commander Special Forces Command, Brig Gen Felix Busizoori, Deputy Director General ISO, Lt Col Emmy Katabazi, Deputy Commandant Military Police, Col Gai Mpandwa, Military Police Operations and Training Officer, Col Napoleon Namanya, the Resident City Commissioner, Kampala, Hudu Hussein, Deputy RCCs, Kampala, Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police, SCP Stephen Tanui, other UPDF and sister security agencies senior officers and leaders from Kampala.
