Minister Bahati calls on general public to embrace COVID-19 vaccination

NEWS– The Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Coperatives Hon David Bahati has revealed that the government of Uganda has secured enough vaccines for Kigezi Region for people aged 18 years and above and appealed to all people to ensure that they take the jab.

This was contained in the remarks Hon Bahati made at the launch of the accelerated COVID-19 mass vaccination program for Kigezi Region which took place at Kabale Main Stadium in Kabale Municipality today.

Minister Bahati who is also the Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West observed that mass vaccination is sure path for the government to fully open schools and the entire economy.

Hon Bahati hailed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for guiding the country in the fight COVID-19 and also thanked the Ministry of Health for the strategies, efforts and standard operating procedures that were put in place to combat the spread of coronavirus which saved millions of people.

He however revealed that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ugandan economy which had been growing at 6.5% reduced by 2% but this can be overcome when the economy is reopened.

The function was attended by the commissioner in charge of communicable diseases at the Ministry of Health Dr Patrick Tusiime who assured the general public that COVID-19 vaccination was safe.
