Reckless swimmer drowns in Lake Bunyonyi

KABALE– The Police in kabale district are investigating circumstances under which a 27 year old man Twailu Ahimbisibwe, a gate man at Rock resort- Lake Bunyonyi drowned into waters of Lake Bunyonyi.

The incident happened yesterday 11th January 2022 at around 5pm while the deceased was swimming at the same lake at Kasambya village Bukora parish Kitumba sub county Kabale district.

According to the eye witness who preferred anonymity, the deceased had only spent a week working at Rock resort and was seen undressing, went directly to the water and started swimming and later drowned.

After the duo happened, the marine police led by AIP Sanyu was notified, visited the scene and together with the local divers, retrieved the body from water.

The documents obtained from him by marine police indicates that the deceased hails from Myaliro village,Myaliro parish, Manyogaseka sub county in Kasanda district.

Elly Maate the kigezi region police spokes person says that police team from kabale central police station including Soco and others, have visited the scene and taken the body to Kabale referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.

Maate adds that the incident resulted from low swimming tactics, calling upon the public to always stop risking their lives in something not yet experienced in most especially swimming on deep waters.

The incident of drowning has since then been registered at kabale central police station under reference number SD 83/11/01/2022.
