Bushenyi transport operators warned against flouting COVID-19 prevention measures

BUSHENYI– Arthur Mucunguzi, the Chairman of Greater Bushenyi region Taxi operators and owners Cooperative Union limited has directed taxi and bus drivers to ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures laid by the Ministry of works and transport as part of self-regulations.

Speaking to our reporter on Wednesday 12th January 2022, Mucunguzi says defaulting any of the set SOPs by the operators of public transport may lead to total closure of their source of income.

He called upon people to always board vehicles from gazetted stages and choose vehicles authorized, labeled taxis to curb the vice of criminals who always hide in the sector to tarnish their name.

Meanwhile the police traffic public relations officer Farida Nampima calls on all road users to be vigilant on the road and the taxis they board. 

She further urged the boda boda riders who transport people and learners to schools to always follow traffic rules and avoid over speeding so that lives are not lost in the process.
