Bushenyi entrepreneurs want Ugx 20M to fly home made helicopter


BUSHENYI– The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Monica Musenero has expressed happiness after visiting 2 wise men who are building a helicopter in Bushenyi district.

The two are Namurinda David from Nyakabanga, Kyabugimbi in Igara West and Biisoni Abel, a resident of Nyamiko cell, Nyamiko ward, Nyakabirizi division in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.

The two are building a helicopter which is nearly complete in Nyamiko cell, Nyakabirizi division in the home of Abel Biisoni.

According to Namurinda, they got this idea 5 years ago and stated building on it in 2018.

He says they have now used up to Ugx 70M on the project stressing that if they can get around Ugx 20M, they can reach the “testing level”.

“We have faced challenges because we lack enough funding and yet materials are expensive. That’s why the works are slightly slow”, he explained.

He revealed that their main targets are to show the world that Ugandans are also wise enough to depend on themselves, create employment opportunities for themselves and ease transport means especially during emergencies.

The Minister who was also the chief guest at the herbal medicine exhibition at Rukararwe Gardens said that the government has funds and if these entrepreneurs can apply, the government is ready to support them.

She was accompanied by the Special Presidential advisor on Public Relations Hon Mary Karooro Busingye Okurut, an official from Ministry of Health Dr Grace Nambatya among other dignitaries.
