Rukungiri murder & aggrevated robbery suspects set free by High court

8 people sentenced to 5 years in jail for setting house ablaze

RUKUNGIRI– High court sitting in Rukungiri District presided over by the Kabale High Court Moses Kawumi Kazibwe has acquitted three people of murder charges.

Those set free are Niwandinda Bruce, Natukunda Richard and Akankwasa Mathias aka Nkwasibwe all residents of Burora in Nyarushanje Sub-county in Rukungiri District.

The trio have been in detention from November 21st 2018 on allegations of killing Besigye Rwempanga a resident of the same area, dumping his body in Minera forest and taking away with his motorcycle.

The counsels of the accused Emmanuel Ndakwenda and Jonathan Bwagi told the judge that their clients had no case to answer since the complainants failed to prove to court that they were behind the murder.

High court Judge Kawumi acquitted the trio of the cases citing the complainants’ failure to prove beyond reasonable fought that the suspects killed Besigye.
