“Thousands are yawning for your jobs” Kanungu RDC tells off striking Science teachers

NEWS– The Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire has appealed to science teachers to return to their places of work and wait for the ongoing negotiations between the government and their leaders about their grievances.

RDC Mwesigye Amanyire made the appeal on Tuesday afternoon May 11th 2022, while addressing journalists in his office where he stressed that he had received information that science teachers have refused to report to school for second term.

The RDC reminded the professional science teachers union that following the communication from the government there is signal of positive response to their demands, adding that government of Uganda is committed to work on improvement of their welfare.

RDC Mwesigye emphasised that the teachers are employers of government and not employed by professional science teachers Union and those with jobs on government payroll are so lucky because thousands of teachers are yawning for the same opportunity.

He has concluded by requesting the leaders of the same Union in Kanungu to find a better way of dealing with industrial action rather than continuing to tame teachers from going to do their work.

The RDC’s appeal comes a time when the Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi said that the cabinet had agreed to look for funds and allocate it in the 2022/23 so that the teachers can start getting their enhanced salary starting with July 2022.
