NTUNGAMO- The Minister of Education and sports Hon Janet Kataaha Museveni has decried the increasing cases of moral decay among the young generation which she partly blamed on irresponsible and poor parenting.

Minister Janet Museveni urged parents and guardians to wake up and fulfill their responsibility of nurturing and grooming their children regardless of the heavy schedules they claim to be executing for the family to survive.

The Minister and at the same time the First lady made the remarks on Thursday May 19th 2022 while officiating at the belated International Women’s day celebration for Ntungamo district held at Kyamate SS play ground Ntungamo Municipality.

She noted the future strong families are hinged on today’s parents who taught their children good societal, cultural and moral values.

The first lady appealed to girls to avoid promiscuity and fornication until they are ready to get married, saying that virginity should be highly recognized as it was in the past.

She asked the leaders to rejuvenate the ABC strategy as the only way to safeguard girls against fornication, early marriages and teenage pregnancy.

The Minister commended the Ntungamo district Woman Member of Parliament Hon Joselyn Bata Kamateneti  and the chairperson of District women council Peace Musiime for organizing the colorful function to appreciate the role of women in the communities.

The State Minister in the Office of the Vice President and Woman MP Buikwe district Diana Nankunda Mutasingwa Kagenyi advocated for dignity and  protecting the girls and women.

The Ntungamo district woman MP Hon Bata Kamateneti challenged the government to modernize and equip health facilities at all levels in order to reduce health burdens on mothers especially maternal and child mortality rate in the country.

Hon Kamateneti also tasked women to respect and always listen to their husbands adding that they should be hearts of the families and husbands are heads.

The Ntungamo district boss Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba assured the public of continued war against corruption in the district to ensure effective service delivery.
