Teachers advised to embrace ICT in their profession


KABALE- Specialists in the Education sector have asked teachers to embrace Information, Communication Technology (ICT) in their teaching profession if they are to match with the current trends in the modern world.

The call was on Friday May 20th 2022 made during the 11th graduation ceremony of 1,388 teachers at National teachers’ college in Kabale district. 

Speaking on behalf of Minister of Education and sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni as the guest of honor at the college premises, the Ag. Commissioner Teacher, Instructor Education and Training in the Ministry of Education, Jonathan Kamurana said that the use of ICT has been a luxury in the past saying that with immediate effect, it should occupy an important position in all teacher training programs.

The Kyambogo University vice chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka asked graduates and teaching staff at National teachers’ college, Kabale to enhance Information, Communication Technology (ICT) capacity irrespective of age and level of Education.

He said that Information, Communication Technology (ICT) is one of the skills set opportunities and that people who cannot use it are going to lag behind since the technology is advancing every time that goes by.


However, the national teacher’s college Principal Dr. Moses Wambi decried the sorry state of student halls of residence and staff quarters at the college thus calling for government intervention for refurbishment.
