Over Ugx 60M raised during Rev Fr Charles Lwanga’s Silver Jubilee

RUBANDA– A total of Ugx 60.5 million was on Saturday May 21st 2022 collected during the silver jubilee celebrations into priesthood of the Rector of St Adrian’s Seminary Rubanda Rev Fr Charles Lwanga Kajugujugu, towards completing the construction of Rwamugasha Catholic Church Center in Rubanda Catholic parish. 

Ugx 60 million was in cash while Ugx 500, 000 was in pledges.

Speaking during the thanksgiving mass at Rubanda Catholic parish pavilion, Fr Lwanga said that he decided to organize a thanksgiving ceremony as a sign of appreciating God for enabling him to serve successfully for 25 years in the priest Ministry. 

He added that he decided to ensure that the funds raised be taken to Rwamugasha Catholic Church center after its construction had stalled yet it’s his church where he is born.

Speaking as the Chief Guest of Honor, the State Minister for general duties in the Finance Ministry Henry Musasizi who contributed Ugx 5 million commended Fr Lwanga for performing his role as a priest and Rector diligently which has helped in developing the projects of the church, producing seminarians who have bigger government positions as well as priests. 

He further commended the clergy for supporting the government in sensitizing people on developmental projects.

The Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Prosy Akampurira who is also the commissioner of parliament asked the parents to ensure paying school fees for their children if they are to be great people, instead of focusing on buying many family properties for them which they end up fighting for. She contributed Ugx 3 million to help in the construction of the church.

The Rubanda West MP Hon Kamuntu Moses Mwongyera pledged to continue cooperating with Fr Lwanga towards the development of the church. He asked the district leadership to ensure accountability of government funds, saying that he can’t tolerate any corruption among civil servants. He also contributed over three million shillings.

The Kabale Municipality MP Nicholas Kamara commended Fr Charles Lwanga for being committed at work from the term he started his priesthood up to now.

Preaching earlier during the mass, the Rector of St Charles Lwanga Rev Fr Gerevaz Tumwebaze asked the priests to emulate Fr Lwanga for his tireless life.
