Outgoing Bishop Bagamuhunda bids farewell to Kigezi Diocesan Christians


KABALE– Christians in the diocese of Kigezi have gifted the outgoing Bishop Rt. Rev. Eng. George Bagamuhunda with a brand-new Land Cruiser Toyota Prado reg. no UBL 238 M with a guarantee of fuel for 1 year as an appreciation for his tremendous work in his tenure as the 5th Bishop.

The Brand-new vehicle was handed over to Bishop Bagamuhunda by Canon Johnson Barintuma Munono, the head of laity in the diocese and blessed by the Emeritus Bishop of the diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev. Dr. William Rukirande.

Barintuma while handing over the vehicle to Bishop Bagamuhunda said that the vehicle is a token of appreciation and a blessing from Christians to enable him to keep on preaching the word of God during his retirement.

While preaching at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church Rugarama in Kabale district as the outgoing bishop was bidding farewell to Christians in the diocese in a service attended by the retired and in-service Bishops, clergy, Synod members among others, Emeritus Bishop William Rukirande appreciated Bishop Bagamuhunda for the tremendous and developmental project that he has left in the diocese. 

He asked God to protect and guide him and his family for the rest of his life.

Delivering his last message from the book of psalms 20; 6 -7, Bishop Bagamuhunda said that he is retiring from being the diocesan Bishop but he will continue serving the living God.

Bishop Bagamuhunda appreciated the diocese of Kigezi with the help of emeritus Bishop William Rukirande that helped him to study from abroad. He also commended the house of clergy for being wonderful team players committed to serve God.

He asked Christians to keep united and work with the in-coming Bishop harmoniously for the spiritual wellbeing of the diocese.


Among the achievements, Bishop Bagamuhunda led the construction of a commercial trading centre which is still under construction at All saint’s church Kabale which is going to have 32 shops in the first and second floors and rooms for priests at All saint’s church Kabale.

Women Empowerment project with 14 flats which he hopes to generate income to support family life within the diocese, Hostels for housing girl children at Rugarama school of nursing which he also hopes to ease poor parents to access and manage Education for their children, Wafer machine for making holy communion bread at St peters cathedral church Rugarama that manufactures holy communion breads for the diocese, Fuel station at Hamurwa in Rubanda district.

Diocese of Kigezi radio, the voice of victory that is set for evangelism and educating people on how to sustain the world. Construction of the Bishop’s house which he said will house all the Bishops that will come in future generations.

The house of Bishop was constructed in a year ahalf worth Ugx 800 million and was opened on 18th September 2017.
