Rwanda Army shoots dead Congolese Soldier


NEWS– The Rwanda Defence Forces have confirmed that a Democratic Republic of Congo soldier has been shot dead inside their territory.

According to a statement issued today, the Rwanda Defence Forces shot the Congolese soldier in self defence after the unidentified gunman crossed into Rwanda at the Rubavu District border and started shooting at the Rwandan Security Operatives.

Its reported that the Congolese Soldier injured two Rwandan Police officers which prompted another Rwandan National Police on duty to shot back in self defence to protect the civilians crossing the border.

The statement indicate that the Congolese soldier was shot 25 meters inside Rwanda territory and the Rwanda government has invited the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM) to investigate the incident together.

Rwanda has also informed the Democratic Republic of Congo about the incident and want a joint Verification.
