Minister Baryomunsi warns Ugandans on SOPs adherence as COVID-19 cases rise again

KAMPALA– The Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi has revealed that there is increased number of COVID-19 cases across the country and called on the people to take caution.

Dr Baryomunsi revealed this today morning while addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala where he said that the infection has risen from an average of 20 new COVID-19 cases registered per week in January to 600 registered per week in May 2022 across the country. 

The Minister said that the positivity rate has since risen from less than 1% in January 2022 to 5% in May this year which makes experts worry about the situation. 

Dr. Baryomunsi who is also the Member of Parliament for Kinkizi East in Kanungu District appealed to the general public to start following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order to overcome another COVID-19 pandemic wave.
