NEWS– The territorial Police of Mbarara district are investigating a case of suspected arson of a dormitory at St. Andrew’s S.S in Rubindi.
Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira told journalists today morning that the fire started at around 8:00 am in the morning while students were already in class and it destroyed property worth millions of shillings.
Kasasira said that all the property in the room that houses 60 students of S.5 was burnt but no student was injured in fire.
Kasasira said that when the Police was informed, they responded to the scene with the fire brigade extinguisher and put out the fire, preventing it from spreading to the next rooms on the same block.
Kasasira said that no arrests have been made but the Police is working hand in hand with the school administration to identify the perpetrators of the crime.
The fire at St Andrew’s SSS Rubindi comes a day after another fire burnt a Girls dormitory at nearby Rushanje Girls High school in Rwampara District where property worth millions of Shillings was destroyed.
Kasasira said that special investigations have been instituted to establish the real people behind the fires and their motive.
