NEWS– The territorial Police of Rwampara District have initiated investigations to establish the origin of the fire that gutted a dormitory at Rushanje Girls High School.
The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira said that a fire outbreak at Rushanje Girls High school in Rweibogo ward Rweibogo Town council gutted a girls dormitory destroying property of 120 students and damaging the dormitory block but no student was affected.
Kasasira told journalists yesterday evening that the Police responded to the scene with the fire brigade extinguishing the fire preventing further damage to school property.
Kasasira said that investigations into the matter are still ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and the case has been registered at Rwampara Central Police Station.
This is a second fire to be registered in western Uganda in a period of less than a week after another fire gutted the boys dormitory at Haven High school in Nyahuka Town council, Bundibugyo district destroying students properties worth millions of shillings.
The school head teacher Christopher Nditakirani, says that the fire broke out last on monday night when students were attending night preps.
Nditakirani says that the fire was started by a suspected arsonist after a teacher reportedly saw unidentified men moving behind the dormitory before the fire went off.
