NEWS– Rukungiri Municipality has scooped the first prize at the Pearl of Africa institutional performance assessment scorecard Organized by the Ministry of Public Service.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday 22nd June at Kololo Ceremonial grounds in commemoration to the 11th Africa Public Service Day under the theme ” Bringing Citizens and government closure to service delivery for social economic transformation”.
The assessment articulates performances of institutions that include Referral and General hospitals, District local governments and Municipalities.
Last financial year, 37 entities were sampled of which 25 from local governments, 3 from Municipalities and the rest hospitals.
According to Hajj. Badru Mayanja Majwara the Rukungiri Municipality Town Clerk in this assessment, 4 standards of service delivery were considered and these included; Client engagement, Systems and processes- (information flow and records management), Management of resources such as budgeting and strategic planning as well as Leadership.
The Overall winner for Hospitals was Mbarara Regional referral, for Districts were Isingiro and Mayuge with Rukungiri DLG as the runners up.
For municipalities, Rukungiri emerged the overall winner with 84%.
