RUKUNGIRI– It was sorrowful and tearly Monday as thousands of mourners gathered at Christ the King Church in Rukungiri Municipality to pay their last respect to the late Activist Gaudy Kemigisha.

Kemigisha, a veteran political activist and a renowned local businesswoman succumbed to cancer last week at Mulago National Referral Hospital. She’s known to have been the caretaker and manager of Opposition strongman Dr. Kiiza Besigye’s estate in Rwakabengo ward, Rukungiri Municipality.

During the funeral service, Dr. Besigye described the deceased Kemigisha as a sister and a friend whom he had known for his entire life.

The four times Presidential aspirant expressed dismay at the National health system which he said failed Kemigisha’s life as he revealed to the mourners that in the final days, when the latter was rushed to Mulago Hospital, she was abandoned in the hospital corridors for the whole night because there was no space for her in the ward.

As an FDC activist, Besigye said that the late Kemigisha fought for equality and fairness for all Ugandans.

On his part, FDC’s current party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi rallied the FDC leaders who attended the funeral to revive the glory of opposition in Rukungiri district.

FDC in Rukungiri district suffered a devastating defeat in the last elections which Hon. Patrick Oboi attributed to disunity within the party.

The requiem service was led by Rev.Fr Julius Turyatoranwa who asked mourners to do good while they are still on earth.
